The Kooks

San Antonio

Ibiza Rocks Hotel

Such has been the steady stream of radio-friendly and insanely catchy hits from this Brighton-based quartet that’s almost too easy to take them for granted. Do so at your peril because you’re likely to miss one of the highlights of the summer.

Armed to the perfect teeth with a tune-packed arsenal, The Kooks bring uncomplicated, three-minute guitar-driven nuggets designed to put a smile on your face as much as they are to get your ass on the floor. This is going to be a not-to-be-missed evening and one of the hottest tickets of the season.

Pendulum

San Antonio

Ibiza Rocks Hotel

Having absolutely levelled last year’s Ibiza Rocks, we’re more than a little excited that the incredible Pendulum are – ahem – swinging by again. Actually, scratch that: we’re checking our pants and strapping ourselves in for what promises to be one hell of a ride from start to finish.

Hailing from Perth, Australia, Pendulum fuse monster beats, killer basslines and buzzsaw guitars to a concoct the kind of heady dance stew that hasn’t been seen since the days of The Prodigy at the height of their powers. This will prove to be the ‘must-have’ ticket of the summer so don’t waste any more time  – get ’em while you can. You still here?

The Enemy

Coventry’s finest kicked it up so much last year that they’re back for more. And that’s not all. As if being The Jam’s spiritual descendants wasn’t enough, the spiky trio are set to drop the massively anticipated  ‘Music For The People’ – the follow-up to the highly acclaimed ‘We’ll Live And Die In These Towns’ – on April 27th.

The Enemy’s new single, ‘No Time for Tears’ is set to join the anthemic ‘This Song’ and ‘You’re Not Alone’ as the kind of song best appreciated with your mates, a few cold ones and lashings of Ibiza sunshine. We’ll see you down the front for what promises to be an absolute belter.

Dizzee Rascal

Ibiza Rocks Hotel

With a new album in the pipeline, grime pioneer Dizzee Rascal is set to return to Ibiza Rocks. With ‘Dance Wiv Me’ tearing up the charts last year, Dizzee hit the mic with all the force of tropical hurricance and left a suitably devastated audience in his wake. Which is just how it should be.

For the unititiated, expect collosal beats, explosive raps and more excitement than is probably good for you. The rest of you know the score which is why you’ll be beating your way through the masses to get hold of your tickets. They’re gonna be like gold dust and this gig’s the gold standard.

Vampire Weekend

Ibiza Rocks Hotel

One of the most talked about bands of last year, Brooklyn’s Vampire Weekend bring their own brand of “Upper West Side Soweto” to the glorious environs of the White Island. Blending African popular music with the street smarts of New York City, Vampire Weekend are heading straight for your feet as well as your head.

Playing at the height of the season, Vampire Weekend’s gloriously uplifting sounds will be the perfect accompaniment to the sun, sea and sand that are going to make our summer. Does it get any better than this? Not on your life…

MGMT

San Antonio

August 25, 2009

Ibiza Rocks Hotel

MGMT’s inexorable and stellar rise from wannabes to contenders has been a joy to behold. But nowhere near as joyous as listening and dancing to the glorious tumage they’ve been turning out. ‘Kids’? ‘Time To Pretend?’ You know what we’re talking about and you love ’em just as much as we do.

Which is why you’ll be catching them in all their pomp and glory for a mighty dose of Sea, sun and psychedelia. This is a gig that’ll live on in the memory long after the summer has gone.

Closing Party w/ Klaxons

All good things must come to an end but hey, if you’re gonna go, go with style. And who better to bring things to a stunning climax at the Closing Party  than the incredible Klaxons. Few bands sum up what it is to party and these three are the living embodiment of what Ibiza Rocks is all about.

Klaxons aren’t just a fusion of styles – rock, dance and all points in between – but a head-on crash of ideas that are intoxicating, daring and downright unique. This is going to be THE party of the summer and the event that’ll keep you going through the winter until Ibiza Rocks again next year!
