Tickets have already sold out for Glastonbury Festival which runs for five full days from Wednesday 23rd until Sunday 27th June 2010 across a 1,000 acres of beautiful countryside at Worthy Farm, Somerset.

The scramble for tickets for this year’s festival started at 9am yesterday morning, with the whole allocation of tickets selling in just over 12 hours. Due to the speed with which tickets were sold, some confirmation emails took over 11 hours to be confirmed. For those who want to confirm they have purchased tickets, there is a ticket checking facility here.

There will be no more tickets on sale until sometime early in 2010.

Ticket sales were not quite as fast as the 105 minute sell out panic of tickets in 2007, or the two hour ticket sale of 2005, and faster than the 24 hour sell out of 2004. Yesterday’s sale mirrors the 2003 sell out of tickets before any of the line-up has been announced. A return to form after last year when tickets took several weeks to sell out, and 2008 where tickets were available right up until the festival.

Registered festival-goers were able to buy up to eight full weekend tickets at a price of £185 or reserve their tickets at a price of £50 per ticket. The balance on these deposits can be paid in full anytime before Sunday 28th February 2010.

Registration will reopen at 9am on Monday 12th October 2009. In order to buy a ticket festival goers must be registered, with online registration only taking a few minutes, this needs to be completed at least 48 hours before trying to buy a ticket.

Everyone aged over 12 on Wednesday 23rd June 2010 (when the Festival starts) who plans to the come the Festival, must register. Children aged 12 and under do not require tickets and do not need to register.

Registration does not reserve or guarantee a ticket. For more details about registering and ticket information click here.

Next year’s event will mark the 40th anniversary of the Music and Arts Festival at Worthy Farm, Somerset, where Michael Eavis first opened his gates for business in September 1970.

Expect something like 2,000 performances at 50 or so venues including music, cabaret, theatre, circus, a fantastic Kidz area, poetry, green crafts and information and loads, loads more … much more than just the music, so make sure you check it all out!

Tickets for next year’s Glastonbury Festival will go on sale at 9am on Sunday 4th October priced at £185 + £5 booking fee (plus £4.95 postage).

Next year’s event will mark the 40th anniversary of music and arts festivals at Worthy Farm, Somerset, where Michael Eavis first opened his gates for business in September 1970.

“The Festival’s long awaited 40th anniversary celebrations start here,” says Festival founder and organiser Michael Eavis. “Back then we’d had a few cancellations and were struggling a bit. We needed to pull someone in to save the day. Luckily Marc Bolan, a huge star at the time, was driving along the A361 on his way to play Butlins in Minehead and we managed to get to him… The rest, of course, is history! Now I’m fully confident that the anniversary line-up will be just that little bit special when it is revealed next year. We want as many people as possible to be part of the celebrations and to enjoy what we do here.”

Tickets will be available via www.seetickets.com and through the dedicated phone line, 0844 412 4635. All registered festival-goers who want to buy tickets have two options. They can either buy a full weekend ticket at a price of £185 + £5 booking fee (plus £4.95 postage). Alternatively, tickets can be reserved using the deposit scheme introduced last year at a cost of £50 per ticket. Alternatively the balance can be paid in full anytime from Sunday 4th October.

With both these options, the number of tickets available per transaction for registered customers is unlimited – as long as each purchase (or deposit) is matched with valid registration numbers. For details about registering see below.

If you want to check what your registration number is, or when your registration is valid until, click here.

Please note, ticket purchasers may be asked for additional Visa or Mastercard security information when they buy their tickets online, so it’s best for these ticket purchasers to be signed up to their card’s security service before they buy. Please click here if for Visa, or here for Mastercard/Maestro.

Car Parking and campervan/caravan tickets will be priced at £15 and £75 respectively. Car Park or Campervan Tickets can not be booked until the balance is paid for at least one of the tickets on a booking.

Adds farmer Michael Eavis, “We have the fairest ticketing operation available anywhere. With this scheme, backed by the all-important registration process, everyone has an equal chance of getting a ticket. And most importantly, every ticket will ONLY be going to a genuine festival-goer direct.”

Next year’s Glastonbury runs for five full days from Wednesday 23rd until Sunday 27th June 2010 across a 1,000 acres of beautiful countryside at Worthy Farm, Somerset. Expect something like 2,000 performances at 50 or so venues including music, cabaret, theatre, circus, a fantastic Kidz area, poetry, green crafts and information and loads, loads more … much more than just the music, so make sure you check it all out!

Everyone who plans to the come the Festival next year must register by Friday 2nd October 2009, at least 48 hours before you intend to buy a ticket. Each 40th Anniversary Souvenir festival ticket sold will have a registered photo printed on of the person in whose name it is registered and will be non-transferable. So if you plan to buy tickets for friends or family you must make sure they all register!

Registration does not reserve or guarantee you a ticket when they go on sale, but if you don’t register you will not be able to buy a weekend ticket for Glastonbury Festival 2010. If you opt to save this information you will be able to use your registration number again in future years. Make sure the e-mail address you provide is one to which you will have long term access.

Online registration can be carried out by clicking here.

Registration involves:
1. Providing contact details: name, address, postcode and a valid e-mail address.
2. Sending a passport standard photo: you will be required to upload your passport standard photo in jpeg form for online registration. If a ticket is successfully purchased this picture will be printed on it to make it unique and must therefore be an acceptable facial image. The image must meet passport photo requirements.
3. Receiving a registration number: to buy a ticket for Glastonbury 2010 this number must be quoted, it will be a unique registration number. So write it down somewhere safe and do not lose it!
Note that there will be no editing facility for registrations, so please ensure all your details are correct, and that your photo is of a suitable size and standard before submitting your details.

If you do not have internet access you can apply for a registration form (enclosing an SAE) to:

Glastonbury,
PO Box 2445,
Glasgow
G40 9AG

Successful postal registrants will be notified of their registration number by post within two weeks.

There is no limit to the total number of people who will be allowed to register. Registering more than once will not increase your likelihood of getting a ticket. Every registration will have an equal chance of buying tickets irrespective of how or when it was made during the registration period. Registration can be made on behalf of other people as long as all their contact details and photos can be provided. If you live outside the UK, the only option is to register online.

If you have not received a confirmation email within a day of having made an online application, please check your spam folder. If your registration is rejected you can re-apply.

If you send in a postal application and do not receive notification of your registration number within two weeks of sending it in, it is best to re-register in case your registration has been rejected, or did not reach them in the first place.

If you have any questions it is worth looking at the Glastonbury FAQ page here.

Ticket purchasing will require each buyer to input their name and their unique valid registration number for each ticket they purchase. Tickets will be sent out by courier to the addresses specified when making the sale, and if ordering more than one ticket, all tickets will be dispatched to the address provided during registration for the first name on the ticket booking.

Data collected during registration will be destroyed one month after the 2010 Festival unless you opt to have it retained by Glastonbury Festivals for future registrations. Retained information will also be used to inform you of events run by Glastonbury Festival. No information collected through registration will be offered for sale or made available to any third party.

Those who registered in 2008, and in 2009 were offered the chance to save their details – if you did so, your existing registration number is still valid. If you did not opt to have your details saved, then you will need to register again this year.
Checks will be made at the gates and if you are clearly not the person whose face is printed on the ticket you will be denied entry.

The uber cool Super Furry Animals are to headline this years Liverpool Music Week festival. The Super Furry’s who will be performing at Nation on Thursday 5th November are the final big name act to be announced for this years festival, and will see them joining an array of world class artistes to form one of the biggest line ups the festival has produced since its inception in 2003. Other bands confirmed this years include Kasabian, The Specials, Calvin Harris, Seasick Steve, Reverend & The Makers, The Enemy and Gallows, The Bays & Twisted Wheel.

The Super Furrys are the most creative of the contemporary Welsh bands, and undoubtedly Wales’ biggest rock export that manage to successfully blend classic songwriting with often breathtaking experimentation. Causing a quiet revolution cant be easy for the 5 piece but SFA have all but managed it without ever breaking through the musical mainstream, and this unique approach to music is what has kept them at the top of their game.

Having released their latest studio album “ Dark Days/Light Years” earlier this year, this will be one of the band’s first indoor performances of their new material having stated in March that they had “been waiting for the right venue & technology to harness their new ‘epic’ sound”. SFA have specifically chosen Nation’s Courtyard for this very special Liverpool Music Week show: their first appearance here since their last sell out tour in 2007. Tickets for this event go on sale at 9am on Friday 18th September.

Meanwhile organisers are pleased to announce 2 more acts for this year’s stellar line-up, the UK’s premier soul/funk band The Brand New Heavies will perform an incredible intimate show at The Masque Theatre on Monday 3rd November with all of their original band members, including front woman N’Dea Davenport.

Also confirmed are Soft Toy Emergency who will be performing a special Halloween party as part of LMW. One of the cities hottest properties right now, the band have been gaining support from Radio 1’s Huw Stephens, BBC6 Music’s Steve Lamacq and XFM’s John Kennedy. They will be performing on Saturday 31st October at O2 Academy.

In addition General Fiasco and Akeal play support for The Enemy @ Liverpool Uni on 8th November.

The rumour mill is hotting up on the streets for the festival’s free music agenda which will be announced over the coming weeks. These events take place across dozens of Liverpool’s city-centre venues and are the heart beat of the festival.

Liverpool Music Week began in 2003 and over the last 7 years has gone onto become a nationally recognised event and highlight of the music calendar. Resulting in Liverpool Music Week becoming the UK’s biggest indoor winter music festival, a musical showcase that features big name acts and gives a performance platform for fresh emerging talent, a number of which have gone on to reach nationwide success.

Last years event attracted a record breaking 55,000 people to the city and is a combination of free and ticketed shows. 2008 hosted over 80 events, across 26 venues, featuring over 300 live acts, and the winning format returns in 2009.

We traveled to Daresbury in Runcorn to visit Creamfields, one of the UK’s biggest dance festivals, to give you the low down on the highs and the lows and what the festival has to offer.

Overall – 7/10

Now in its 11th year Creamfields is back bigger and better than ever. With a newly expanded site, more music and with more revelers turning up to the site than ever, things are looking up for the organizers.

Although the festival itself has built on its epic reputation it’s still fairly new in the fact that this is only the second year that the event has boasted camping. With this in mind tickets sold faster than hotcakes, as the event sold out for the first time ever.

With more bars than you can shake a cup at, it means fewer queues and more choice. That coupled with the amount of toilets on site, plenty of food stalls and the vast choice of tents and stages available, there is always something available to do, and plenty of choice.

Getting there and back – 7/10

The site is easily accessible by car with signposts although the festival places a huge emphasis on safe travel. With plenty of signs warning about the dangers of drug driving, the organizers go to great lengths to ensure that everybody is as safe as possible.

With easy train access, plenty of cheap taxis and shuttle buses taking you from the site to everywhere from Liverpool to Manchester it’s simple enough to navigate your self to and from the festival to home.

The site – 5/10

The site has been expanded this year after problems with entrance and mud last year, which means the festival had chance to grow. With a field just for the main stage and much more space between stages, it means that there’s no cross over in sound, and crowds do not get too compacted.

However there were still problems with queues. With strict baggage checks, and just one entrance into the site, it means long waits and anxious crowds.

The campsites were poorly lit, as were the walkways from the arena, which after a heavy rain pour on the Sunday caused nothing short of chaos. This made for a rowdy bunch, which could have, quite easily turned in the blink of an eye.

Atmosphere – 6/10

Because of the problems with lack of entrances and long queuing times to enter and leave the arena, it really put a dampener on everyone’s spirits. This coupled with the copious amount of drugs going around, and how quickly you could get alcohol, made everyone seem on edge.

Those who paid out the extra money for VIP tickets were subject to more strict searches when entering the hospitality arena, and were often met with abrasive security staff.

This being said, the rest of the security guards and event staff were in high spirits throughout the weekend, and were as friendly as they were helpful. Even the large amount of police presence seemed welcomed as they happily posed for photos and were even spotted by the main stage on Sunday by wristband4festivals having a little dance to Basement Jaxx.

Music

Mylo – 6/10

Mylo

Back in 2005 Destroy Rock and Roll was one of the hottest dance albums about. Mylo had created nothing short of a masterpiece with tunes such as ‘Drop The Pressure’, ‘In My Arms’ and ‘Muscle Car.’ Back then these dance classics had just about everyone in Ibiza worshipping the Scottish dance legend. However, his live set seemed old hat, with a poor back show for a main stage artist, and not enough people bothering to stick around to the end.

Friendly Fires – 9/10

Although the festival is largely a dance event, the appearance of live bands is always a welcome relief. With a massive following, those who chose not to watch headliner Tiesto on the main stage were pleasantly surprised.

The band who were originally penned in for a DJ set played all their hit singles such as ‘Jump In The Pool,’ ‘Paris,’ and ‘Skeleton Boy’ as lead singer Ed MacFarlane literally danced from the moment he walked on to the stage to the moment he left. Adding a truly carnival feel to the evening, his unique style of dancing will not go unnoticed from any of the bands fans, which saw the crowd swinging their arms and hips in all directions from start to finish.

2manydjs – 10/10

With Soulwax seeming nothing short of a distant memory, lots of people who turned up to watch them were blatantly unaware of 2manydjs existence. However with mixes including tracks from Prodigy, Michael Jackson, Dizzee Rascal and Tiga’s ‘Just Take Off Your Shoes,’ the whole set stopped just short of genius.

Literally everybody knew at least one track that was played, and literally everybody danced wildly throughout their modest daytime slot.

Calvin Harris – 7/10

A somewhat surprising appearance from Calvin Harris. Not usually known for being the perpetual songbird, his live appearances are usually marred by the fact that he seemingly can’t hold a single note when singing. Whether this is down to nerves or sound problems, this always taints his sets.

Despite this Harris pulled off his set with style and finesse, and hit pretty much every note pitch perfect. This coupled with his ability to get the whole crowd bouncing.

Dizzee Rascal – 7/10

Dizzee is known for his grime roots and is heavily in touch with them. With this in mind it’s only his recent entry into the pop world with hits such as ‘Bonkers,’ and ‘Holiday,’ which grew in his large crowd. This meant a lot of people didn’t really get his set, or his music, and left them pretty much waiting around for three songs. ‘Dance Wiv Me,’ saw Calvin Harris make an appearance on stage to join Dizzie before they celebrated their new number one entry into the charts with ‘Holiday,’ which was met with a finale of fire works and confetti.

Basement Jaxx – 6/10

A disappointing headline slot from the usually fantastic Basement Jaxx crew. With big tunes sporadically placed in between what seemed like a wealth of self-indulgent experimentalism, they failed to pull in a big enough crowd, as most opted for new kid on the block Deadmmau5 on the Mix Mag Terrace.

Uppers

With pretty much every genre of the wider dance genre covered there is always something to cater to any revelers taste.

A welcome stall this year was the Schuh welly exchange tent. For the mere price of an old pair of shoes you could bag yourself a shiny new pair of wellys with the shoes going to charity. Brilliant.

Downers

The poor weather on Sunday meant a lot of mud on the way back to the campsite. This made it difficult to navigate safely back to the tents, and left everybody anxious and rowdy.

Random Events

wristband4festivals had the pleasure of bumping into recent Big Brother housemate Freddie Fisher as he searched for his tobacco by the funfair. This erupted into a good half hour chat during which we felt most at home, and strangely star struck!

wristband4festivals went along to Weston Park on Sunday to find out just why V continues to be so popular despite accusations of heavy handed security, commercialised music and hefty ticket prices.

V Festival is known for it’s eclectic line-up and this year provides the best of recent years. Of the six stages there’s plenty to cater to any musical pallet.

There’s two tents dedicated to the hardened clubber, the Bowtime Bar who saw the likes of Kissy Sell Out, who look like rejects from The Kids From Fame, but spun some wicked beats, and the Bacardi Mojito Tent who featured Wax On Djs, playing some of the hottest tracks around.

The festival definitely stacks high in the take your mum along stakes, with performances from McFly, who, as ever, put in a dedicated fun filled half an hour set, Pixie Lott and Taylor Swift, who although both talented ladies, seemed incredibly similar, and The Saturdays, with high heels and big attitudes.

Some of the biggest performances from the day came from dance legends Happy Mondays. The massive crowd raved their glowsticks off as a bleary eyed Shaun Ryder bumbled through their set. Another blow for the Happy Mondays crown was the absence of Bez, citing illness due to excessive pill taking.

Of course the biggest pull of the weekend came from the festivals killer choice of headliners.

On the 4 Music Stage, Fatboy Slim, freshly out of rehab, proved just why he, above all the rest of the worlds DJ’s, was chosen to headline. With a mind bending set, featuring his own tracks mixed effortlessly into those from the likes of Iggy Pop, Land The Beastie Boys, he had just about everyone waving their hands in the air, like they just didn’t care.

Finally came the main act of the day, The Killers. Belting out a mixture of rhythmic tunes and sing a long anthems, perfect for the sweltering crowd, the band earned their third appearance at the ever-growing festival. Brandon Flowers worked every part of the stage and every part of the audience, into a crescendo of synth, guitar, and glamorous indie rock and roll.

However once again the actions of the security firms on site helped to put a dampener on the event, with their boisterous attitudes, heavy handed antics and at times refusing to give the crowd water as they were unable to move from their spot.

Despite this organisers have proved why the festival is so successful, with it’s unique approach at festival bookings, and why time and time again so many people descend to Weston Park, come rain or shine, for the greatest musical weekend of the year.
